Implementation set-up
At the Government level, the Department of Relief and
Rehabilitation looks after the issues related to rehabilitation
of Sardar Sarovar Project-affected families. The Department is headed
by the Minister (Relief and Rehabilitation) and the Minister of
State (Relief and Rehabilitation). The administrative head of the
Department is the Secretary (Relief and Rehabilitation). Under the
Secretary, the following staff work for the relief and rehabilitation
of Sardar Sarovar Project-affected persons:-

With a view to make dynamic and effective
rehabilitation of the Sardar Sarovar Project-affected families,
it is necessary that there should be co-ordination between the relevant
Government departments. Considering this, the Government of Maharashtra
has established a Project Management Unit (PMU) to rehabilitate
the Sardar Sarovar Project-affected families. The PMU will be headed
by the Collector, Nandurbar who has been designated as the Project
Director. The Additional Collector, Sardar Sarovar Project, Nandurbar
is designated as the Project Officer. The other officers which are
included in this group are:

Project Management Unit
The Project Management Unit is entrusted
with the responsibilities of planning of the rehabilitation of the
Sardar Sarovar Project-affected families, to sanction the relevant
proposals accordingly and to implement and co-ordinate the rehbailitation
as per the decision taken by the PMU or the Government. The Project
Director has power to accord administrative and financial sanction
to the proposals of the rehabilitation of the Sardar Sarovar Project-affected
families.
