Rehabilitation of PAFs
In Maharashtra, altogether 33 villages
in Akkalkuwa and Akrani Tehsils of Nandurbar district are likely
to be submerged by the Project.

In these 33 villages, there are 3,698 PAFs who have already been
declared Project -Affected Families (PAFs). The process of declaring
PAFs is still in progress, and the number of PAFs is likely to increase.
Until now 2,371 PAFs have been rehabilitated in Maharashtra and
834 PAFs have been rehabilitated in the Gujarat State. Thus, out
of 3,698 families 3,205 families have been resettled and 493 families
are yet to be resettled. Out of the 2,371 PAFs resettled in Maharashtra,
1,687 PAFs have shifted to the new rehabilitation villages. These
PAFs would be resettled as per the action plan prepared by the Narmada
Control Authority. The Government of Maharashtra has made preparation
to rehabilitate those PAFs who are in the process of being declared.

Based on these provisions, a separate policy has been framed for
the resettlement of the SSP- affected families vide Government Resolution,
Revenue and Forests Department No.
SSP 3192/CR-40/R-5 dated 26.2.1992
and subsequent
GRs issued by the Government. As per the provisions of these
Government Resolutions, additional benefits have been given to the
SSP-affected families as compared to the other project-affected
families of the State. As per the package for resettlement of SSP-affected
families in Maharashtra, the land holders whose land is going under
submergence are given land equivalent to their holding or a minimum
of two hectares whichever is more, and landless persons are given
a minimum of one hectare of agricultural land. In addition, sons/daughters
of the project-affected persons who are 18 years or more in age
on the cut-off date are also given one hectare of agricultural land.
All such persons are also entitled to a residential plot of 500
sq. meters in the resettlement villages.
The project-affected persons are given compensation for their land,
houses, trees, etc. which are in submergence area, whereas agricultural
land in the rehabilitation villages are given free of cost. All
the belongings of the PAFs are transported from the submergence
area to the rehabilitation villages free of cost by the Government.
